How do I appear higher in the search results?
VenueNow shows customers the most relevant venues by first filtering results by location, capacity, event type, space type, room layout, amenities and budget. If your listing doesn’t match a guest’s selected criteria, it simply won’t appear—so complete every field, especially pricing, event types and capacities/layouts. Optimising for a high quality score helps you rank better on VenueNow and can also improve how your venue appears on Google search.
VenueNow’s search experience is built to help customers quickly find the most relevant, high‑quality spaces for their events. To do this, search results are first filtered using the following criteria:
-
Location
-
Capacity
-
Event type(s)
-
Space type(s)
-
Room layout(s)
-
Amenities
-
Budget/pricing
If your space does not meet a customer’s selected criteria, it will not appear in their search results. This is why it’s important to complete your space page with as much accurate, relevant information as possible—especially pricing, activity types, and capacity/layouts.
Once the initial filters are applied, results are then ordered using VenueNow’s search algorithm. Each space receives a “quality” score based on several factors:
-
Number of photos uploaded (5 or more): 20 points
-
At least 1 function pack, menu, or offer added: 20 points
-
Pricing and availability added: 15 points
-
Number of event types selected (5 or more): 10 points
-
Length of space description (200+ characters): 10 points
-
At least 1 space type selected: 5 points
-
At least 1 layout selected: 5 points
-
Space name (20+ characters): 5 points
-
Number of amenities selected (3 or more): 5 points
-
“Show pricing” set to true: 5 points
-
Total possible score: 100 points.
To help you optimise your listing, consider the following best practices:
-
Double-check capacity and layout: If your venue can host both standing and seated events, make sure you specify both capacities. This allows your space to appear in more searches. For example, if your venue can hold 100 guests standing but you don’t list a seated capacity, you may miss out on searches for smaller seated events (e.g. 50 guests seated).
-
Use keywords and strong visuals: Incorporate relevant keywords in your description that reflect your venue’s features (e.g. “waterfront venue”, “boardroom with AV”, “rooftop bar”). Keep your photos up to date and consider adding enhancements like a 3D tour to help planners understand the space at a glance.
-
Consider boosting your spaces: Boosted spaces (via VenueNow’s paid options) are given higher visibility than similar, non‑boosted spaces. If you want to increase your exposure in search results, it can be worthwhile to explore these options. You can contact the VenueNow team for more detail on how boosting and ranking improvements work.
By following these steps and aiming for a high quality score, you’ll increase your chances of appearing higher in VenueNow’s search results. Because VenueNow also ranks strongly on Google, an optimised listing can help your venue appear on the first page of broader web search results as well.
